Skip to content Profile editorium Edit all the world. ホームデザイン・IT 編集・出版政治・社会自然・科学映画・演劇・テレビよしなしごと Gallery Recent Articles Subscribe 7 7月ユーザー中心設計と民主主義ヒューマンセンタードデザイン。ぼくらがユーザーインターフェースを設計するときには、この言葉で表される考え方に基づいて作ります。人間中心設計。人間が使うものを作るのだから、人間を中心に考えるのは当たり前なのですが、機能実現に注目が集まって作られることの多いシステムでは、技術先行で走ってしまうことが少なくありませんでした。ウェブにおいても、企業の論理に基づいて広報宣伝やサービスの提供を行ってしまい、顧客の見方から出発することが大切であると広く知られるのに、ずいぶん時間がかかりました。しかしコンピュータのソフトウェアのデザインにおけるそのような考え方は、実際にはずいぶん昔に登場しています。ぼくが初めてそうした考え方に、きちんとまとめられた形で出会ったのは、Macintosh用ソフトウェアの開発者に向けて書かれたガイドライン「Apple Human Interface Guidelines」でした。 Macintoshの誕生とともに1987年に公開されたこのガイドラインでは、第1章にまず「設計思想」があります。コンピュータのプログラマが読む本の最初に「思想」があります。そのことにまず驚いたのですが、その「設計思想」の章の扉を開くと、さらに深い驚きを覚える言葉が書かれていました。設計思想を語る最初の項目が「ユーザ側の視点」なのです。苦労してコンピュータの技術を学び、様々なアプリケーションごとに異なる多様なコマンドを覚えなければならなかった当時のコンピュータに辟易としていたぼくは、Macintoshに初めて触れた時からその魅力にとりつかれていましたが、その魅力は、ユーザー、つまりぼくらのことを中心に考えるという視点が強力に存在していたからだったのです。そのことをこのガイドラインを通じて改めて知り、ほんとうに深く感動しました。この感動ととてもよく似ている経験がありました。
